Topic: Giving Back to the DotNetNuke community
Description:  Stop theorizing. Start writing lots of software. For this edition of the DNNUG meeting, we're going to be discussing how we, the St. Louis DotNetNuke User Group, can give back to the DotNetNuke community. We have talked substantially about contributing to the Wiki module, so let's get together and take this a step further. Chris and Ian will be brainstorming over the next couple of weeks to figure out the best way for the group to approach a project of this nature. This is going to be a kick off meeting of sorts, so that we can get organized and start giving back to the community by making DotNetNuke better!

Topic: Simplified Module Architectures - Rediscovering the Power of ASP.NET
Description: Many of the best DotNetNuke modules allow significant changes to be made to the appearance and functionality of the module through configuration changes, tokenized templates, and other assorted techniques. While this provides nice options for non-technical users, it introduces a variety of limitations that can be very difficult to overcome and can lead to very complex code that is difficult to modify. The more of these modules I experience, the more it seems that too many people keep trying to re-invent what ASP.NET already offers, and their solutions aren’t nearly as elegant or powerful. This session will focus on module architectures that expose the power of what ASP.NET already does so well and allows powerful and flexible modules to be created quickly with minimal coding.
Presenter: David O'Leary
Bio: David O’Leary is President and CEO of Efficion Consulting. He founded Efficion Consulting almost 5 years ago to harness the capabilities of open-source website frameworks for Efficion clients. Through utilizing DotNetNuke and other open source solutions, Efficion is able to meet a large portion of client needs without any custom development. This improves development speed, increases site reliability and security, and greatly decreases costs. With the power of ASP.NET and the extensibility of DotNetNuke, Efficion is able to truly tailor custom solutions to meet client needs.

David graduated with a Computer Science degree in 1993 (before “The Web” even existed). He has been working in the Software Development field now for 15 years and on Internet based technologies since 1998.
